Snyder discusses budget plan for next year

LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has unveiled his 2014-2015 budget in Lansing, and he wants lawmakers to approve 103-million dollars in tax relief for low and middle-income families.

Projections by budget officials say the state will have an estimated 971-million dollar budget surplus over the next three years.  The governor wants to extend the Homestead Property Tax Credit which will help an estimated 1.3-million taxpayers.

Snyder is also recommending a six-percent increase in funding for state universities, a three-percent increase for community colleges, and a 2.8-percent hike for K-12 schools.
