DETROIT (WKZO) -- A report in the "Detroit News" has found the Detroit Institute of Arts gave their executives pay raises while trying to get voters to approve a special tax to support the facility.  The financial documents also show that DIA Director Graham Bell was given a loan of 155-thousand dollars over three years ago that he still has not repaid.

Overall, salaries for DIA executives were up by 17-percent since 2010.  Spending at the DIA has been under review in light of the City of Detroit's Chapter 9 bankruptcy.

A number of private foundations and the State of Michigan have pledged an estimated 720-million dollars to protect the artwork from creditors and help the city's pensioners.
