UNDATED (WHTC) -- The suspect in a shooting at Ferris State University was in court on Monday. DeCory Demarco Downing was arraigned in Mecosta County District Court on 17 different charges including assault with intent to murder, homicide-attempted murder, five counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and nine other weapons charges. The shooting happened at an off-campus apartment near the college early Saturday morning. The victim in that shooting was taken to the hospital and released Saturday night. His name has not been released. Police say that Downing is not a Ferris student and that they are still trying to determine what led up to the shooting.
