LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Rick Snyder will propose an increase of 322-million dollars in spending on schools for 2014 and 2015.

The majority of the funding, 270-million dollars, will help offset school retirement costs.  The overall budget for K-12 education is pegged at 11.7-billion dollars for this fiscal year.

The "Detroit Free Press" reported Sunday that while education spending has increased in Snyder's first four years in office, school districts have had less money due to increased retirement costs and a loss of federal stimulus money.
