UNDATED (WHTC) - In high school boys’ basketball last night, Zeeland East lost at Grand Rapids Union, 48-29. This evening, a full slate of boys and girls action is scheduled along the Lakeshore.

On the boys’ side: Holland Christian is at Zeeland West, with broadcast time on 1450 WHTC and http://whtc.com/listen-live at 6:40 PM; Saugatuck hosts Watervliet as part of a girls/boys doubleheader that is on 92.7 The Van and http://927thevan.com/listen-live at 5:10 PM; Holland is at Unity Christian; West Ottawa is at Rockford; Zeeland East is at Mona Shores; Hamilton hosts Byron Center; Fennville hosts Hartford; Black River hosts Fruitport Calvary; and Calvary Schools of Holland plays Algoma Christian at the Holland Civic Center.

Grand Valley State swept a pair of basketball games from visiting arch-enemy Ferris State last night. In the opener, Kayla Dawson tallied 14 points with 10 rebounds as the women won, 67-50. The men took the nightcap, 86-62, as Ryan Sabin needed only to play the first half in order to lead the Lakers with 21 points. GVSU welcomes Northern Michigan for another pair of round ball contests at the Fieldhouse Arena on Thursday evening.

Justin Abdelkader scored twice as the Red Wings blanked visiting Vancouver last night, 2-0. Detroit is in Miami to play the Florida Panthers on Thursday evening. Coverage on 1450 WHTC begins at 7:10 PM.

Patrick Kane had two goals and set up another in the Blackhawks’ 5-3 win at Los Angeles last night. Chicago skates at Anaheim tomorrow evening.

Dwayne Wade was too much with 30 points and 10 rebounds as Miami downed the visiting Pistons last night, 102-96. Detroit is in Orlando tomorrow evening.

DeMarcus Cousins rang up 25 points with 16 rebounds as Sacramento handled the visiting Bulls last night, 99-70. Chicago plays the Suns in Phoenix this evening.
