HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) - A 28-year-old Holland Township man is in custody and awaits arraignment following a threatening incident at a motel on Holland’s North Side during the overnight hours on Sunday.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies, the unnamed suspect was brandishing a handgun as he allegedly threatened his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend at the Value Place Motel off of Van Ommen Drive. She was able to drive off without any reported injury, but in her flight, she heard a shot fired, but apparently no bullet struck anything.
Deputies were able to track the suspect down a short time later at a residence off of 136th Avenue and Greenly Street. As they arrived, the man fled out the back door, but a canine unit located him in a tree line, and the dog was also able to sniff out where the handgun used in the incident was. The suspect was injured in his flight, and was treated for minor injuries at Holland Hospital, and then taken to the Ottawa County Jail, where he awaits a scheduled Monday arraignment on various charges.
Deputies add that three unnamed persons in the house where the suspect was tracked down were also arrested on unrelated probation violation warrants. The incident remains under investigation.
