HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC) - The festivities at the Hudsonville Community Fair last night were marred by an accident involving two brothers from Holland.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Koster and fellow deputies were called to the grandstand, where the West Michigan Mud Runs were taking place. Rodney Silva was behind the wheel of a stalled truck that his brother James was trying to get started when the vehicle lurched, sending James Silva to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital.
The 22-year-old James Silva’s condition was downgraded to critical overnight; the 20-year-old Rodney Silva wasn’t injured. The incident remains under investigation.
UPDATE: There are reports that James Silva underwent surgery to relieve cranial pressure. He is believed to have a skull fracture.
