HOLLAND (WHTC) -- The Holland Historical Trust’s Civil War Muster coming up on Sept. 20 and Sept. 21 will feature more than battle reenactments, it will also feature alcohol. Earlier this month, Holland City Council approved the trust’s request to add the authentic Emerald Peacock Saloon to the event’s vendor list. Muster director Jerry Berg said that the reenactment group will set up a full 1860s saloon, complete with tables, bar and swinging doors.
"Not only do they set up a fantastic saloon, but they themselves bring very well researched personas, and period music, games, and every other aspect of entertainment from a saloon in the Victorian era," Berg said.
Members of the group will also be inside the saloon, playing music and gambling to make it feel more authentic. The saloon has teamed up with New Holland Brewery to serve a beer brewed like it was in the period. A security team provided by the trust along with a team from New Holland Brewery will be checking identifications. Emerald Peacock reenactors will actually serve the old-fashioned brew. The muster is free to the public and will run from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday.
