Woman sues General Motors over burns from heated seat

YARMOUTH, ME (WKZO) -- A Maine woman is suing General Motors after she says she suffered third-degree burns on her buttocks from a heated seat in a Chevrolet Suburban.

Emma Verrill is a paraplegic and cannot feel anything from her waist down, which caused her to not feel the heat while in the vehicle in 2012. The "Portland Press Herald" reports the 26-year-old needed surgery and spent months in bed healing from the injuries.

GM is denying her claims that the heater was defective, adding in court documents that the automaker is unaware of problems with the part.
