PARK TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC) -- The Park West Drain and what to do about it has been under discussion for a number of years. During Thursday evening's Board of Trustees meeting, all was revealed. Sort of. Changes to the drain district plan have changed the number of properties inthe district drastically. The origianl number of properties was clsoe to 1800. With the change, the drain would not release into Lake Macatawa via a culvert under Ottawa Beach Road. More than 700 properties will have to share the cost of the $2.1 million plan. Assessments range from about $1,500 to $8,000. The average assessment is around $3,000. The assessment does not have to be paid as a lump sum and can be paid over 20 years with a low interest fee.
