DETROIT (WHTC) - The meteoric rise of right-handed pitcher Buck Farmer has reached an apex with last night’s call up by the Detroit Tigers to start tomorrow night’s game against Pittsburgh at Comerica Park. Farmer, who was 10-5 with a 2.60 ERA for the West Michigan Whitecaps when he was promoted to Double-A Erie on July 29th, went 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts for the Seawolves before this latest two-level jump. The Tigers are short of starting pitchers with Anibal Sanchez already ticketed for the disabled list and Justin Verlander leaving last night’s start with a stiff shoulder.
