HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A 30-year-old illegal immigrant who has been in the US for nearly a decade is held on 250 thousand dollars bond, accused in the death of a 57-year-old Holland man.
Eulises Mora-Hernandez was arraigned yesterday on drunken driving and hit-and-run charges stemming from a Sunday night collision on 32nd Street near Apple Drive that killed motorcyclist David Achterhof. Investigators say that Mora-Hernandez ran after the crash and was arrested a short distance away. Federal agents are also involved in the immigration status of Mora-Hernandez and two others in his SUV at the time of the incident. Although not charged in the case, 27-year-old Eudes Gallardo-Mata and 25-year-old Wilibaldo Mora-Vargas are also in the Ottawa County Jail, retained by Holland District Court Judge Brad Knoll as witnesses in the matter.
The funeral for Achterhof is today.
