Holland-Zeeland Primary Election Results

UNDATED (WHTC) - Incumbents were successful, while voters were not in a giving mood in Saugatuck/Douglas and Jenison in yesterday’s unofficial Primary Election results along the Lakeshore.

Congressman Fred Upton defeated Jim Bussler in the GOP Primary, 37,440-15,153, a 72% margin, and will face Democrat Paul Clements in the November 4th General Election.

State Representative Amanda Price defeated challenger Matt Wiedenhoeft in the GOP Primary, 6,092-1,982, a 75% margin, and will face Democrat Don Bergman in the November 4th General Election.

Ottawa County 8th District Commissioner Greg DeJong defeated challenger David Moren in the GOP Primary, 919-257, a 78% margin, and will face no organized Democratic challenger in the November 4th General Election.

Allegan County 6th District Commissioner Jon Campbell defeated challenger Bill Sage in the GOP Primary, 792-594, a 57% margin.

For the open state 80th House District seat, Cindy Gamrat won the GOP Primary with 3,836 votes (41%), followed by Mary Whiteford (2,738), Stephen Schulz (2,432) and Randy Brink (419). She will face Democrat Geoff Parker in the November 4th General Election.

For the open state 90th House District seat, Daniela Garcia won the GOP Primary with 4,093 votes (50%), followed by Geoff Haveman (2,465), Bob Harmsen (705) and David Kroll (551). She will face no organized Democratic challenger in the November 4th General Election.

For the Ottawa County 5th District Commission seat, Mike Haverdink won the GOP Primary with 2,157 votes (69%), followed by James Miedema (812) and John O’Brien (171). He will face no organized Democratic challenger in the November 4th General Election.

In ballot proposals: Holland Township emergency services passed 2,200-563 (80%); Park Township emergency services passed 2,244-435 (84%); Olive Township roads passed 282-130 (68%), fire services passed 304-109 (74%), and library operations passed 256-154 (62%); Robinson Township fire rescue services passed 300-116 (72%); Blendon Township emergency services passed 726-277 (72%), and library operations passed 670-330 (67%); Georgetown Township municipal complex bond request rejected 6,449-4,074 (61%); Allegan County senior services passed 9,942-4,712 (68%); Allegan County 911 operations passed 10,033-4,554 (69%); Saugatuck-Douglas library bond request and library operations both rejected by 59% (856-593 operations; 799-550 bond); Laketown Township municipal services passed 713-324 (69%); Fillmore Township rollback rejected 271-165 (62%); Overisel Township roads passed 322-121 (73%); and Heath Township emergency services passed 308-92 (77%) and roads passed 287-113 (72%).
