PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) - Five seniors, four from the Monterey, California area, were injured in a single-vehicle crash south of Holland last night.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christie Wendt, 68-year-old Frank Blossom of Grand Rapids was driving his car northbound on 64th Avenue around 10:30 PM when he approached 32nd Street at the county line south of Lake Macatawa. Blossom apparently drove through a stop sign at full speed and slammed into cement footings blocking access to an abandoned gas station. He along with his passengers – 68-year-old Joseph Shevelson and his 64-year-old wife Cheryl, and 64-year-old George Bonsoosten and his 62-year-old wife Loris, all from Carmel Valley, California – were taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Sergeant Wendt added that all five were buckled up and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash as an investigation continues.
