DETROIT (WKZO) -- The city of Detroit has extended its moratorium on water shutoffs until later this month.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan announced Monday the moratorium on water shutoffs for residential customers will remain in place until August 25th. The move gives officials a chance to complete a plan to overhaul collection of overdue bills.
The Duggan administration and the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department are expected to release a new plan on Thursday. City officials say shutoffs will continue on commercial customers whose accounts are significantly delinquent.
