SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC) - US Coast Guard crews rescued an unnamed man from the waters of Lake Michigan about five miles off of the Saugatuck shore on Saturday afternoon. The man was scuba diving at the site of a sunken tugboat when his equipment apparently failed in 100 feet of water. A companion on a support boat dived in to rescue, but they became entangled in some thick trolling line 30 feet down. The victim was resuscitated by rescuers and flown to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment. No names were disclosed, but Coast Guard officers say that the two men were experienced divers who were not from the Lakeshore area. The incident remains under investigation.
