Sox Win but Caps Lose on Monday; Tigers to Face Sox Tonight

UNDATED (WHTC) - Justin Verlander takes the mound as the Tigers open a two-game series in Chicago against the White Sox this evening. Coverage from US Cellular Field on 1450 WHTC begins at 7:45 PM.

The White Sox prepared for Detroit’s visit by downing visiting Tampa Bay last night, 7-3. Andre Rienzo scattered five hits with four strikeouts over six innings for Chicago, while Alejandro De Aza and Adam Eaton each drove in two runs for the Pale Hose.

The Cubs’ game in Cincinnati last night was postponed by rain, with no make-up date immediately announced. The two teams will try again to play at the Great American Ballpark this evening.

Nellie Rodriguez and Anthony Santander each had two RBI as Lake County held off the visiting Whitecaps last night, 5-4. The series at Classic Park in Eastlake, outside of Cleveland, continues this evening.

The Bulls host Washington in NBA Playoff action at the United Center this evening, with the visiting Wizards leading Chicago, three games to one, in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

The Chicago Blackhawks will have to wait until tomorrow evening before knowing their Western Conference Semifinal opponent, as Minnesota forced a decisive seventh game in its NHL Stanley Cup Playoff series by beating visiting Colorado last night, 5-2.
