IONIA, MI (WTVB) - Why fund a trial for a man who is already doing life without parole with the Michigan Department of Corrections? The prosecutor says the victim wants justice.
Escaped quadruple murderer Michael Elliot was brought to the Ionia County Courthouse after their video arraignment system failed. Chained at the wrists and ankles, Elliott was asked if he understood the charges of Escape, Kidnapping and Carjacking and asked if he needed to keep his court appointed attorney. His preliminary hearing will be held May 7th.
State Prison officials say Elliot took advantage of distractions on Super Bowl Sunday this year along with broken security equipment to break through two fences. Police say he then car jacked a woman using a box cutter and forced her to drive him to LaPorte County, Indiana, where he was recaptured the next day.
