OTTAWA COUNTY, MI (WHTC) -- An annual report issued by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department this week shows that more serious crimes, such as murder, robbery and criminal sexual conduct, have decreased by more than 18 percent. One major crime that saw an increase in 2013 is that of aggravated assault, which rose by 10 percent to 195 incidents. Of less serious crimes, drugs and narcotics violations increased 11 percent for a total of 738 in 2013. The decline in crime has also lightened the load at the county prosecutor’s office.
