HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- Hundreds of spectators were on hand for the “Turning of the Blades” opening ceremony at Windmill Island Gardens on Saturday morning. A lot of fundraising went into the repairs of the DeZwaan Windmill. Jodi Syens, Consultant to the City of Holland for the Windmill Restoration said she’s happy to see the blades turning again. The work that's been done has given her a better perspective on what to do to preserve the structure for the next 50 years or more. An employee of the Dutch firm Verbij, will be back in a couple of weeks to do some fine tuning to the DeZwaan Windmill. The dedication for the “Turning of the Blades” gave recognition to contractors, supporters and donors but also took place so that local residents could see the progress made.
