DETROIT (WHTC) - The debate over a proposed luxury condo and marine development on the western edge of Lake Macatawa continues.
Residents living near the Point West at Macatawa Park project have been in opposition ever since the developers raised the idea of building new cottage sites that they say would blend in with the current “character and pattern” of existing buildings. Those objections center on density and traffic concerns, and litigation to overturn Park Township’s approval of the site plan is in the courts.
A group called Macatawa Area Residents for Fair Development is also against a 80-slip, three-dock marina that would reach 355 feet into Lake Macatawa due to environmental and recreational concerns. They are expected to make their feelings known during a nine-day public comment period opened up by the US Army Corps of Engineers yesterday, over permit requests by the developers to build the proposed marina.
