ROYAL OAK (WKZO) -- The latest surgery to reconstruct the face of a west Michigan girl who was attacked by a raccoon as an infant in 2002 is an apparent success. Doctors at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak needed eight hours Tuesday to sculpt cartilage from the ribs of Charlotte Ponce into an ear mold and implant it under her forearm skin. A new nose was attached for Charlotte two years ago and the ear transplant to the head will happen in June, after the skin molds to the shape of an ear.
