UNDATED (WHTC) - Inclement weather compelled the Tigers to postpone last night’s scheduled game versus Cleveland at Comerica Park, with no make-up date immediately announced. The two teams are slated to play in Detroit this evening, with coverage on 1450 WHTC beginning at 6:40 PM.
Bad weather also kept the Cubs from playing the Yankees in New York last night. The two teams will try to play a day-night doubleheader at Yankee Stadium today.
A throwing error by Boston shortstop Xander Bogaerts in the bottom of the ninth inning enabled the winning run to score, as the White Sox edged the visiting Red Sox last night, 2-1. The series at US Cellular Field in Chicago continues this evening.
The Whitecaps split a pair of games at Quad Cities last night. Ben Verlander’s single in the fifth inning plated the tie-breaking run as West Michigan won the opener, 6-4. A single by Austin Elkins in the bottom of the eighth inning scored the winning marker as the River Bandits took the nightcap, 2-1. The two teams conclude their series at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa this evening.
The NBA regular season ends tonight. The Detroit Pistons go home for the summer after playing at Oklahoma City, while the Chicago Bulls have a final playoff tune up in Charlotte.
