HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Plans for an indoor shooting range near the Holland Heights neighborhood have taken a step forward.
The Holland Planning Commission last night endorsed ordinance amendments that, if approved by City Council, would allow firearms to be discharged under controlled circumstances within the city limits. The Bullet Hole Gun Shop wants to build an indoor range on its 8th Street property, and claimed that the current law against firing a weapon in most areas of Holland was violated when a shooting range was built in the basement of the current Holland Public Safety headquarters a few years ago. Neighbors of the Bullet Hole have expressed opposition in the past to the proposed shooting range, citing safety concerns. Council will take up the amendments on first reading this evening, with a planned final vote on May 14th.
