HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC) - The legal future of an accused bank robber may be determined this afternoon.
Hudsonville District Court Judge Kenneth Post will be asked to transfer the case of Todd Kooiker to federal jurisdiction. The 51-year-old Jenison man has been jailed on 200 thousand dollars bond since his arrest last Friday following a high-speed chase. Kooiker allegedly dressed in drag and held up a credit union south of Hudsonville at gunpoint, which is a federal offense; he is charged in Ottawa County with armed robbery and fleeing and eluding.
Meanwhile, an April 23 arraignment has been scheduled before Judge Post for Gary Peterson, the pastor of The Rock Church in Grandville, who surrendered to authorities today for allegedly embezzling his former flock, Wellspring Church west of Jenison, of several thousand dollars. Wellspring elders released a statement saying that an external audit revealed that Peterson was using church money for personal expenditures prior to what some say was a contentious departure from that church last year.
