General Motors investing in two Michigan plants

DETROIT (WKZO) -- General Motors officials say the company plans to invest close to 450-million dollars to upgrade two Michigan plants. The investment was reportedly announced at the Automotive Press Association, and will include upgrading the manufacturing processes at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly and Brownstown Battery Assembly plants.

The automaker says it plans to invest 384-million at Detroit-Hamtramck for new body shop tooling, equipment and other upgrades needed to build the next generation Chevy Volt and other future products. GM will also reportedly invest 65-million dollars at its Brownstown Battery Assembly plant to support the next generation of lithium-ion battery production.
