DOUGLAS, MI (WHTC) - While one Obamacare deadline has passed, another aspect of the Affordable Care Act in this state is just underway.
The League of Women Voters of the Holland Area has reserved the annex building of the District Library off of Center Street in Douglas from 1 to 5:30 PM today. Organizers are holding a four-and-a-half-hour “walk-in session” to help people sign up for Medicaid if they qualify through the Healthy Michigan initiative that began on April 1st. Regional Navigators from Cherry Street Health Services and Catherine’s Health Center, both of which are based in Grand Rapids, will be on hand to answer questions and to assist in the enrollment process. Those wishing to sign up need to bring pertinent family financial information, including social security numbers, email addresses and passwords, and information on employer-offered insurance. No appointment is needed, and the event is open to the public.
The individual open enrollment period through healthcare.gov ended on March 31.
