WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO) -- U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow is among those who voted Monday to pass a five-month extension of emergency unemployment insurance for millions of Americans. The legislation, which is retroactive to December, restores temporary insurance for more than 106-thousand people in Michigan who lost their benefits when they expired at the end of last year.
"This support is the last lifeline for those out of work through no fault of their own," says Stabenow.
The bill now goes to the House where Senator Stabenow says she hopes it will be approved quickly.
