ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) - A wireless phone carrier in Allendale appears to be the latest victim in a string of apparently brazen smash-and-grab burglaries throughout West Michigan.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Mark Bennett, deputies responded just around dawn to an alarm at the Sprint store on Lake Michigan Drive just west of the GVSU campus to find the rear door kicked in and not a soul in sight. It appeared that five suspects needed only around two minutes to grab a large amount of smart phone and Iphones from the business.
The dollar amount of losses was only listed as “significant,” and detectives are looking at images taken from the store’s surveillance cameras to see if they can get any leads as to the identity of the suspects or the getaway vehicle used. They will also be comparing notes with colleagues in other jurisdictions who are looking into similar types of crimes.
