HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- Holland BPW Business Services Director, Dan Nally, presented a recommendation for the first major purchase for the new plant during Wednesday night’s City Council meeting. The recommendation is a request for approval to enter into an agreement with Siemens, Inc., for the purchase of two gas turbines for a total of $37-million, 700-thousand. After considering offers from five companies, the decision was narrowed down to two, GE and Siemens. After further consideration, Siemens was chosen was cheaper from a capital point of view, saving about five million dollars. City Council gave it's approval to the agreement. According to the BPW, the new plant should be up and running by the end of 2016.
