West Michigan, Central Michigan take Losses, Tigers and Cubs Lose, White Sox Win

AURORA, IL (WHTC) – Rob Gallik threw for 227 yards and two first-half touchdowns as Illinois Wesleyan stifled visiting Hope on Saturday, 14-7. COLUMBUS, OH (WHTC) - Mark Miller passed for 236 yards and three touchdowns as Ohio Dominican routed visiting Grand Valley State on Saturday, 57-14. The Lakers (3-1, 1-1 GLIAC) host Michigan Tech at Luebber Stadium in Allendale next Saturday evening.

KALAMZOO, MI (WHTC) – West Michigan’s Corey Davis, injured last week and not in the game, watched his Bronco teammates fall to Kent State, 32-14 in the Broncos’ Mid-American Conference opener.  Broncos quarterback Van Tubbergen completed 11 of 23 passes for 159 yards and a score. He threw two interceptions in the second half.  The Broncos have an away conference game next Saturday at Toledo.

RALEIGH, NC (WHTC) - The N.C. State Wolfpack routed Central Michigan 48-14 on Saturday in Raleigh. The Wolfpack outrushed Central Michigan 239-94 and held a 483-259 advantage in total yardage.  Next Saturday afternoon, the Chippewas travel to Ohio to take on Miami College.

MIAMI (WHTC) – The Marlins handed the Tigers a 2-1 loss Saturday afternoon.  Alex Avila drove in the only run of the game for the Tigers, and Anibal Sanchez pitched five innings, giving up just two hits with eight strikeouts for Detroit.  The final game of the regular season for the Tigers is this afternoon in Miami.  They’ll begin the playoffs as the third seed in the American League, which means they'll open the playoffs on the road in Boston or Oakland.

ST LOUIS, MO (WHTC) – The Cubs were clobbered by St Louis, 6-2.  A bright spot, Anthony Rizzo lifted a solo shot for Chicago.  The last game of the season for the Cubs takes place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis this afternoon.

CHICAGO (WHTC) -- Chicago clubbed four home runs as the White Sox took down the Kansas City Royals, 6-5 AT U.S. Cellular Field.  The win assured the White Sox would not lose 100 games this season.  The last game for the White Sox happens this afternoon in Chicago.

DETROIT (WHTC) -- An NFC North battle pits the unbeaten Chicago Bears traveling to the 2-1 Detroit Lions with early position in the division title race on the line.  Game coverage gets started at noon on 1450 WHTC.  This evening, Sunday Night Football with the New England Patriots in Atlanta to take on the Falcons.  Game coverage begins at 7:30 P.M. on 1450 WHTC.
