House Votes to Continue Funding Federal Government

U.S. House Representative Bill Huizenga (R-Zeeland)
U.S. House Representative Bill Huizenga (R-Zeeland)

UNDATED (WHTC) -- As the country gets closer to a government shutdown, the House of Representatives voted early this morning in favor of the continuing resolution to fund the federal government.  The legislation passed eliminates the medical device tax, delays the implementation of the Affordable Care Act for one year and ensures that men and women in the military will be funded even if the government is shut down.  Congressman Bill Huizenga says, “In West Michigan, we have felt the chilling negative impact of Obamacare’s medical tax firsthand,” and “Repealing the job-destroying medical device tax will boost Michigan’s recovery and ensure a path for future job creation, innovation and scientific research in West Michigan.”
