FERNDALE (WKZO) -- A Ferndale-based software company has been purchased by Ford Motor Company. Livio makes software applications that Ford hopes to use as the platform in their vehicles and for others in the auto industry.
Ford had previously announced plans to have their "AppLink" feature available to other companies. That feature gives drivers voice control over the applications in the vehicle's "info-tainment" system.
Combining AppLink and the Livio programs could lead to a standardized system that would save software developers time and offer customers more options. The sale of Livio is effective immediately.
