UNDATED (WHTC) -- The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning has announced the numbers from the end-of-summer drunk driving crackdown that took place between August 16th through September 2nd. 45 drivers were arrested with a blood alcohol content of point 17 or higher under Michigan’s High BAC Law. Troopers from the Michigan State Police arrested two fugitives during the crackdown. More than 4-thousand seat belt and child restraint citations were issued. Preliminary results show there were eight traffic fatalities over the Labor Day weekend. Alcohol was a factor in three of those cases. This project is part of Michigan’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan.
