DETROIT (WKZO) -- A hearing has been scheduled for October 2nd by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes to hear arguments over the challenge of the state's Emergency Manager by the NAACP.

The Michigan and Detroit chapters of the organization joined four individuals in May in a lawsuit to overturn the E.M. law as unconstitutional.  The group told the judge they believe their lawsuit should be permitted to continue because they are not seeking any money from the city.

Earlier in the bankruptcy process, Rhodes said the removal of Kevyn Orr as Emergency Manager would disrupt the city's bankruptcy.
