UNDATED (WHTC) -- Summer officially comes to an end this afternoon.  The Autumnal Equinox arrives at 4:44 EST.  On the equinox, night and day are almost exactly 12 hours each all over the world.  Many cultures and religions celebrate or observe holidays and festivals based on the changing of the seasons.  From now through December 21st, days will get shorter.  The Daylight Savings time change occurs on Sunday, November 3rd.
