GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) -- The Special Olympics Area 12 director is looking for a new way to raise money for athletes after the Holiday Road Light Show got canceled. Mark Dalman says the Special Olympics will suffer. He says the event raised about 30-thousand dollars for the organization. The light show’s board said it had to cancel the event because the city of Grand Haven would not allow it to use part of Franklin Avenue this year. Grand Haven’s City Council rejected the light show using that area earlier this week, saying it would negatively impact downtown and could also impact traffic and public safety.
