Avila Blasts Tigers Past KC; Late Collapse for Lions, Late Heroics for Bears

UNDATED (WHTC) - Alex Avila slugged two homers, including the game-winning solo blast in the eighth inning that broke a 2-2 tie, and accounted for all of the Tigers' scoring in a 3-2 victory over visiting Kansas City on Sunday. Justin Morneau's RBI single in the eighth inning broke a 2-2 tie, as Pittsburgh edged the visiting Cubs on Sunday, 3-2. Chicago opens a three-game series at Milwaukee on Monday evening.

Asdrubal Cabrera's three-run homer capped a four-run sixth inning for Cleveland, and the visiting Indians went on to complete a weekend series sweep of the White Sox on Sunday night, 7-1. Chicago starts a three-game series versus Minnesota at US Cellular Field on Monday evening.
