UNDATED (WHTC) -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a program called Pink Saturdays is providing free mammograms for as many as 15-hundred women. The 7th annual program is supported by almost every hospital, radiology group and cancer center in the region. To qualify, a woman must be uninsured, between the ages of 40 and 64 and live in one of eight Southwest Michigan Counties, including Allegan and Van Buren. If you’re not a resident of one of those counties, there are a couple of places you can call to find out if free mammograms are available in your area. There is a statewide hotline, 800-922-MAMM or the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program at 800-CDC-INFO for assistance.
