HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- The White House continues to defend planned moves against Syria. In a briefing, Deputy National Security Adviser Tony Blinken said the administration continues to provide extensive, classified briefings to lawmakers. He noted that the U.S. believes the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons in a recent, deadly attack. He said the evidence is "beyond a reasonable doubt." With that being said, polls taken over the weekend shows that many Americans are opposed to the use of military force in Syria. Alice Hirt is working to organize the vigil at 10th Street and River Avenue tonight. The public is welcome at the event, which is part of a string of protests across the country organized by MoveOn.org. If you’d like to take part in the vigil, people will be meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the corner of 10th Street and River Avenue. For details, call (616) 218-6511.
