Tigers Blank Boston; Caps End Season on Losing Note

UNDATED (WHTC) - Doug Fister allowed four hits with four strikeouts over seven innings, as the Tigers blanked the Red Sox in Boston yesterday, 3-0. The series at Fenway Park continues this evening. Coverage on 1450 WHTC is at 6:45 PM.

Henderson Alvarez tossed six innings of seven-hit, three-strikeout baseball, but it was his three-run homer in the second inning that gave him and visiting Miami a 4-3 win over the Cubs yesterday. The series at Wrigley Field in Chicago continues tonight.

The New York Yankees scored eight runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat the visiting White Sox yesterday, 9-1. The series at Yankee Stadium continues this evening.

Lansing scored eight runs in the sixth inning and went on to beat the visiting Whitecaps yesterday, 9-4. West Michigan ends the season at 69-70.
