LANSING (WKZO) -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is trying to cut down or prevent infant mortality in the state. The Department of Community Health Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program now has an extra 14.4-million dollars for the 2013 and 2014 fiscal years thanks to a federal grant. Families receive home visits from health officials to work on issues from family assistance, educational support, health and wellness and more.
