HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- The Holland City Council met in a closed door meeting Wednesday afternoon to review the City Manager Performance Evaluation. Ryan Cotton has been City Manager since March of 2012. This is Cotton’s first review since being hired. The entire City Council met with Cotton during closed session to discuss the review. Mayor Protem Robert Vander Vusse spoke about the results of the evaluation. There were 35 ranking points across seven categories. Eight of the nine members of the Council completed the evaluation for a total of 280 points. One member was not able to complete the evaluation due to technical difficulties. The ranking sytem was 1 as the best and 5 as the worst. Cotton received a 1 ranking in 199 categories, a 2 ranking in 79 and a 3 ranking in only one category. The end result is that all Council members, including the Mayor, think that Ryan Cotton has done a great job and his contract was extended through 2017.
