UNDATED (WHTC) -- The trial date for the alleged killer of a Michigan State Police officer has been set for February 18th, 2014. Eric John Knysz was in court this afternoon for a pretrial conference in Ludington. Knysz faces charges in Mason County in the shooting death of Officer Paul Butterfield. The murder of a peace officer is punishable by life in prison without parole. Other charges include; felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and motor vehicle theft. The shooting happened on September 9th during a traffic stop. Knysz’s wife, Sarah also faces charges in the shooting. Her final pretrial conference is set for November 5th.
