UNDATED (WHTC) -- The contention over the possible consolidation of Saugatuck and Douglas took on a bit of an ugly turn this weekend. Legally placed signs by the Consolidated Government Committee were vandalized for the second time in less than a month. The damage was discovered Saturday morning on signs posted around Saugatuck Yacht Service. Earlier vandalism was reported on September 28th to a permanent lighted consolidated sign on Blue Star Highway in Douglas. These signs of disagreement come just before the vote to merge the two cities on November 5th.
