MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) - Kevin Haan, a one-time Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputy, was found guilty but mentally ill of two felony counts and a misdemeanor charge stemming from a high-speed chase and crash into a closed elementary school in Muskegon nearly a year ago. The 48-year-old Wyoming man had pled not guilty by reason of insanity, but a Muskegon County Circuit Court jury needed only 70 minutes on Friday to come back with its verdict. Haan, whose 17-year career as a deputy ended in 2008 after a series of suspensions and arrests, could be sent to prison for up to five years when he is sentenced on November 4th.
