UNDATED (WHTC) - Authorities are searching for two missing girls in West Michigan, one of which may be in “extreme danger”
An Amber Alert was issued overnight for Amber Rose Smith, a two-year-old Newaygo County girl who was last seen yesterday afternoon in the area of 13 Mile Road and Cottonwood Avenue in Barton Township. The warnings from the sheriff’s office are due to the blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl having a severe mental/physical disability.
Meanwhile, 11-year-old Sheila Gutierrez-Rivera hasn’t been seen since leaving her apartment unit off of 64th Avenue behind Allendale High around 4 PM. Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong said that the child told her mother that she was going to a neighbor’s house to do homework. When the mother went to the home two hours later, the girl was nowhere to be found. She may possibly be with an 18-year-old man described only as a “family friend,” who is also missing. At this point, investigators don’t believe that the child is in any danger, and foul play isn’t suspected, so no Amber Alert has been issued. Gutierrez-Rivera is described as being 4-9, 110 pounds, with long brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a navy blue hoodie and black jeans at the time, and was carrying a multi-colored backpack.
