A's Earn Walk-Off Win Over Tigers

(Oakland, CA)  -- The Athletics beat the Tigers 1-0 in Game Two of the ALDS. Stephen Vogt singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to drive in the winning run as Oakland evened up the best-of-five series at a game apiece.  Justin Verlander fanned eleven over seven innings of four-hit ball for Detroit.  Al Alburquerque took the loss in relief and Don Kelly managed two of the Tigers' four hits.  The series shifts to Detroit for Monday's Game Three.

GVSU Rolls Over Michigan Tech

The 25th-ranked Grand Valley State football team showed its muscle on both sides of the ball Saturday evening in front of more than 13-thousnad fans at Lubbers Stadium, rolling over Michigan Tech by a final score of 49-3.

Chippewas Defeated by NC State

The Chippewas traveled to North Carolina State and lost 48-14 on Saturday.  Central Michigan received notification from North Carolina State canceling a contract for three-year football series, buying out the final game which was set to take place 2014 in Mount Pleasant.  The buyout paid by North Carolina State to Central Michigan for cancelling the contract is $350,000.

West Michigan Routed by Toledo

Tyler Van Tubbergen went 9-of-19 for 104 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the 47-20 loss. Corey Davis led the Broncos in receiving with five catches and 7 yards.  WMU amassed only 87 rushing yards on 40 attempts. The Broncos also committed four turnovers without registering a takeaway in the lopsided setback.

Michigan blasts Minnesota

Fitzgerald Toussaint carried 17 times for 78 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead No. 19 Michigan to a 42-13 win over Minnesota and claim its sixth straight Little Brown Jug.

Michigan State Tops Iowa

Connor Cook threw for a career-high 277 yards and two touchdowns as Michigan State opened Big Ten play with a 26-14 win over Iowa on Saturday.  Michigan State was again led by its standout defense.

Bruins Deal Red Wings First Loss of Regular Season

The Bruins rallied past the Detroit Red Wings, 4-1, on Saturday at TD Garden.  Henrik  Zetterberg scored  the lone Detroit marker, while Jimmy Howard allowed all four  goals on 37  shots for the Red Wings, who  had won their first two games.

Lions in Green Bay this Afternoon

The high-powered Detroit Lions are at the top of the NFC North and now it's time to find out if the Honolulu Blue and Silver are really contenders or just pretenders.  Aaron Rodgers and the well-rested Green Bay Packers will entertain the Lions at Lambeau Field this afternoon.  Game coverage begins at noon on 1450 WHTC.  At 7:30 P.M., the Texans take on the 49s in Sunday night Football, also on 1450 WHTC.

Bears Home to the Saints This Afernoon

The Bears welcome Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints to Soldier Field this afternoon.  The Bears are coming off a loss to Detroit last week.  The Saints have started the season with four straight wins.  Game time is at 1 p.m.
