UNDATED, (WHTC) -- A couple charged in the connection with the shooting death of a Michigan State Trooper waived their right to a preliminary examination today.  In Mason County, Eric John Knysz is charged with the murder of Trooper Paul Butterfield, which is punishable by life in prison without parole.  Other charges include felony possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and motor vehicle theft.  Sarah Knysz is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and motor vehicle theft.  The pair also face several charges in Manistee County.  According to police, Trooper Butterfield was shot in the head on September 9th after stopping a pickup truck at 6:20 p.m.  Some three minutes later, a passing motorist called 911 to report finding him.  The two were bound over for trial in Mason County District Court.  No trial date has been set.
