HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) - Three persons from Holland Township were hospitalized when their car smashed into a tanker trailer on Holland's North Side during the overnight hours today.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff's Sergeant Matt Wildfong, trucker Abram Terrell of San Gabriel, Louisiana was northbound on US-31, waiting for the light at Felch Street to turn green around 2:30 AM, when his rig was rear-ended by the automobile of a man whose name and details were not immediately disclosed. The force of the crash pinned that driver, along with passngers Angela Brown and LaJoyia Meitzenheimer, in their vehicle; rescuers had to extricate them, while Terrell wasn't injured. The unnamed driver and his passengers were taken to Holland Hospital, where the women were treated for minor injuries and released, while the driver was initially listed in serious condition.
The roadway was closed for about an hour as a result of the crash. Wildfong added that it wasn't immediately known if alcohol was a factor in the incident as an investigation continues.
